Student Uniform and Dress Code

Rationale

The Moil Primary School Uniform Policy has been established to clarify expectations of students, their families and the school.
The intention is to promote a sense of community, equity and self-respect and to meet departmental requirements for the compulsory wearing of school uniform by students across the Northern Territory.
Wearing a school uniform affirms the individual students' acceptance of the values of Moil Primary School. It symbolises an equal basis from which students can develop and project a positive image.
By minimising the impact of different socioeconomic backgrounds, students are valued for what they do and say, not their appearance.
The uniform is designed for comfort and durability in tropical conditions and is priced to meet community needs.

All compulsory uniform requirements are available for purchase through the front office (except long pants and shoes).

Parents can use their $200 Back to School Voucher to purchase items in Term 1 only.

Shirts: Black patterned polo shirt with collar and sleeves or school sports shirt (yellow, blue, green, red)

Hats: Sports bucket hats or wide-brimmed hats (caps, visors, and beanies are not acceptable)
Shoes: Sandals with back strap, runners or leather school shoes (no high heels; no thongs or backless shoes)

Students must wear a suitable hat to play outside covered areas.

The school uniform must be worn fully and correctly at all times.
A child not in full uniform will be reminded by staff. If more than three reminders occur in a term, parents will be contacted to discuss the matter and appropriate consequences.
Parents are expected to support the Uniform Policy and ensure students present as ambassadors of the school.

The school understands that some students may be unable to comply with the Uniform Policy due to exceptional circumstances, including new enrolments.

Parents are requested to contact the school to discuss their situation with senior staff.

A limited supply of uniforms is available for emergency use. Families are asked to launder and return borrowed items promptly.

Second hand uniforms returned to the school are available in exceptional circumstances and emergency situations.

Parents may be asked to provide a donation when these items are issued.
